Uche Ignites Comfortable Crystal Palace Victory at Shelbourne.

Despite entering their maiden continental campaign, Oliver Glasner's side are learning very quickly. Missing star players like striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and defender Daniel Muñoz, the London club departed Dublin with a comfortable result that virtually secures them a spot in the Europa Conference League playoffs.

A further three points in their upcoming match against Finland's KuPS should be enough to seal straight entry to the knockout stages, especially following a prior stumble against Strasbourg.

Squad Members Grasp the Opportunity

This occasion provided a platform for several Palace's fringe players to impress. Christantus Uche, in only his second start after joining on loan from Getafe, notched the scoring with a clinical goal. Forward Eddie Nketiah added a another, finding the net for the second game in succession.

A Shelbourne side that had finished their domestic season proved outmatched against a mostly rotated Palace lineup. The visitors were already depleted by the news that Mateta and Muñoz are out with knee problems.

Control Established from the Start

In spite of torrential rain in Dublin, Palace quickly established dominance. A flowing passing sequence in the 11th minute, sparked by Daichi Kamada's clever pass, allowed Nketiah to lay on Uche for a straightforward tap-in.

Youngster Adam Wharton came close minutes later, driving a powerful effort over the bar. Nketiah subsequently appealed for a penalty after racing into the box, but the referee dismissed the appeals.

Ex-Arsenal man did not have wait long to get his goal, tapping home from a yard out after Uche's shot had struck the post.

The home side were hanging on desperately. Defender Kameron Ledwidge was fortunate to escape a booking for a couple of agricultural tackles on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards rattled the crossbar with a powerful header from a corner.

Pino Seals the Game

The match was effectively over eight minutes before half-time. Yeremy Pino meandered past some weak challenges before calmly dispatching a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to extend the lead to 3-0.

After the break, coach Oliver Glasner took the chance to rest key players like Kamada and Wharton. Substitute Romain Esse came close to scoring his very first touch, but saw his effort blocked.

The youngster was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one shot strike off both posts before being clasped on the line. Uche also missed a glaring chance, indicating there is still room for development in his game.

The only concern for Palace was a second-half injury to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This paved the way for 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to make his first-team debut, capping an otherwise perfect evening for the visiting side.
