France will start stopping migrant vessels in English Channel after UK pressure

French officials have consented to start stopping small boats in the Channel, after months of insistence from the UK.

This policy shift follows the British leader sent a letter to the French leader urging him to support the initiative and stating there presently "have no effective preventive measure" in the maritime passage.

French maritime police will be allowed to stop the small boats at sea, but exclusively prior to they've collected their migrants, according to authoritative statements.

French police have rarely acted to prevent the heavily loaded boats leaving the coastline because it is viewed as excessively high a risk to both officers and individuals.

"It is crucial that we deploy these methods this period... We have zero effective prevention in the Channel."

Currently, a French maritime police representative states personnel will start intervening at sea, with the aim of safeguarding lives.

Significantly, the official excluded the use of nets to intercept boats, which had previously been suggested as a potential technique to snarl the engines of the boats.

This determination to take action at all is a significant step forward, coming after a brief shift towards a stricter approach this warmer season, which ceased when the previous government official departed from government.

This was demonstrated in the summer month, in the run-up to a meeting between the UK leader and French president, when authorities were observed walking into the sea to slash the sides of a boat.

Now French officials will again be allowed to stop boats before they collect migrant individuals from the beaches of northern France, however it's not clear how the small boats will be stopped.

Powerful gusts are presently postponing the start of intervention operations and the human trafficking gangs will be seeking ways to adjust to avoid interception, as they have done so often in the previous instances.

The Home Office and the Prime Minister's office have been approached for comment.
